The Spring/Summer 2014 runway season may have come to a
close, but we still have the pages of Vogue and Bazar to inspire nail art. One
burst of inspiration came from Emma Hill’s exit show with Mulberry. While it
wasn’t the most jaw dropping collection of the season, the 1960’s reminiscent
florals and orange and navy color pallet felt like it would translate
beautifully as a fall mani. Decided, I pulled my copy of the Let it Be off the
shelf, dropped the needle on “Two of Us” and started painting.
I started with one coat of butter LONDON’s Nail Foundation
Flawless Basecoat and two coats of Sunbaker, a beautiful rust orange shimmer,
on all but the ring finger. Though Sunbaker comes from the butter Summer
Holiday collection, it makes a really beautiful autumn shade and paired with
the right colors definitely emulates a 60’s/70’s vibe. I chose to recreate the
stunning floral pattern of the silk dresses in the Mulberry show on the ring
finger alone with the accent of the orange to either side, similar to the show
itself. For that I required two coats of O.P.I.’s Alpine Snow on the accent
nail. Once dry, I began by painting the lighter shades of the design first,
starting with Shandy, a beautiful apricot crème color. Next, I added some details
with the robins egg blue color Poole and the contrasting dark navy blue Royal
Navy. To finish off the accent nail, I added detailing with Sunbaker to tie it
all together. Sealed with SV topcoat, I loved how it turned out—both how close
the design came to the actual Mulberry print and the unique details I added.

What do you think of my
retro runway adaptation?
Love this mani! Especially the accent! I love how the colours and designs pop over the white base :D Very cute and eye-catching! ♥
