zombieland

Happy almost Halloween! My bestie requested this design based off something she stumbled across online, and since she a) never lets me do her nails and b) it is halloween themed I couldn't possibly turn her down. She is an actress and thus a fan of the dramatic--so naturally, bloody nails would appropriate. Also I think perhaps she was trying to bring back a little of our halloween experience from last year. We were lucky enough to be in London for Halloween last year, and as we discovered UK Halloween was basically a zombie apocalypse. So, being that there was no fear of blood between the two of us, this nail design was a go.

For this look we stuck with a neutral base and used a variety of red varnishes to paint the blood. After one coat of butter LONDON Nail Foundation Flawless Basecoat, I painted one coat of Hen Party. This polish worked well because it is a similar tone to the natural nail color, but had a slight iridescent shine. Next, I painted the drips of blood using a dotting tool and butter LONDON's Saucy Jack for the deep red color. Next to add a little more dimension, I painted a brighter shade of red around the edges of some of the drips using Come to Bed Red. Lastly to get that deep, dark color in the base of the drips I added a small dot of La Moss on each. I used one coat of butter LONDON's P.D. Quick Topcoat to seal the design and complete the zombiesque look.

How do you get your nails Halloween ready?
