summer lovin'

With finals fast approaching and the light at the end of the tunnel getting bigger by the minute, I thought I would give my nails a little summer kick. Loving the bright colors of the summer and the bold geometric and tribal prints, I did a few designs for myself and friends to get us ready for the holiday. When I was in Chicago doing some shopping and taking advantage of all my birthday coupons I bought two new polishes from Illamasqua's Human Fundamentalism collection--Nomad and Stance. I loved the rich hues and the fantastic look they created when combined. For this first look I applied two coats of Nomad over top one coat of butter LONDON's nail foundation flawless basecoat. Next I painted the triangle on the tip of each nail using Stance. To separate the two colors and add a little more depth to the design I added a stripe of butter's Union Jack Black. The look was finished with a coat of SV topcoat. I absolutely loved this design, and it is actually really quick and easy to do even with limited nail painting experience--so many fun color combinations too!

Still going with the same concept, I did a design for my roommate's sister. For her look I went with more of a neon look. The contrast of the black against the bright polishes really made the pattern stand out. To start, I applied a coat of butter LONDON nail foundation flawless basecoat. Next I did one coat of Union Jack Black. Using butter's Bezzie Mate (discontinued) and Slapper, and Illamasqua's Rare, Gamma, and Jo'mina, I painted the stripes on each nail in varying directions. I finished the look up with a coat of SV topcoat for a clean and glossy finish. What do you think? Do we look summer ready?
