Happy Halloween friends! While I have been at an absolute loss for a fab Halloween costume, i have definitely not been lacking in themed nail ideas. When I was thinking of ideas for my Halloween nails, I caught sight of my new Alexander McQueen scarf. I got it on ebay for quite a steal and absolutely adore it. From there I decided I want to do skeletal nails. I have seen a number of nail ideas online with just skulls or full bodied skeletons, but I wanted to keep things relatively simple. I also wanted to include a heart beneath the rib cage... while not practical per say, I just liked the effect.
So for this look I started with one coat of butter LONDON's Nail Foundation flawless basecoat and one coat of butter's Union Jack Black. As I have mentioned before, Union Jack Black is one of my absolute favorites, and for a limited time butter LONDON is selling a Union Jack Black Lippy and Lacquer combo setfor only $15! I would totally recommend getting your hands on it because a) it's a steal--you're saving $16 and b) it's the perfect vampy Halloween look! Now that I have thrown my little plug in, i suppose I should get on with the nail design. First I painted a small heart on the right side of the accent finger using Come to Bed Red. Next, using O.P.I.'s Alpine Snow I freehand painted the skull on the thumb and the rib cage and spine on the accent nail. I used one coat of SV topcoat to seal the design. I absolutely love how the skull turned out...the rib cage not so much. The heart wasn't quite bright enough and it wasn't a very convincing chest. What do you think about my Halloween nails? Will you be doing something festive with your nails for the holiday?
