never caving to conformity

Sometimes, certain life events require one to have well manicured nails. Unfortunately that does not mean expertly done and fantastically creative nails like I prefer to have. What that means is BORING nails--either nude or a stereotypical french. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally aboard the nude nail colored boat... I just struggle with simplicity. That being said, earlier this week I was expected to conform and tone down my nail art and this is what I came up with. It's nude and kinda like a french so It worked for me. As a matter of fact it worked to my advantage as it was neutral enough to not be totally obnoxious but unique enough to get some positive attention (yay me).

So how did I come up with this clever design you may ask? Well I used more of my ever-growing collection of Butter London polishes to create the pseudo-french manicure. After using Butter London nail foundation, I applied a base coat of Tea with the Queen. Then using All Hail the Queen, The Old Bill, Tramp Stamp, and La Moss (all from left to right in the above picture) I created the top design using overlapping stripes. I finished the look off by accentuating the color differences with a thin white line of Sinful Colors Snow Me White. Per usual I did my nails as I was about to go out the door and thus applied my Sally Hansen topcoat before my nails were completely dry resulting in the white streaks (go ahead and send me hate mail via the comment box, i know i should know better). Overall, the look was a success and my nails were subtle enough to pass inspection yet I still was able to be myself! [insert applause here]
