military brat

If you checked out my post last week, you know that I bought a set of Recollections beads in six different colors. Only having planned to use the black beads for my caviar mani, this design came about by accident. I wanted to paint my nails a solid color for work and butter LONDON's British Racing Green was calling my name. I absolutely love the rich forrest green hue and it just happened to coordinate nicely with the outfit I was wearing. I had planned to leave my nails at that (shocker) but then noticed the copper beads thrown atop one of my bags of polish and was inspired to create a military theme on my nails. Maybe it was because I was in the middle of an NCIS marathon, but I thought the copper and green together screamed military.

To actually create the look. I painted two coats of British Racing Green overtop butter LONDON's nail foundation flawless basecoat. The tricky part was successfully placing the beads on my nails. I went nail by nail painting each with a layer of SV topcoat then carefully placing each bead with my finger. Obviously I made a billion mistakes along the way and it took way too long, but I finished it none the less. I painted an additional topcoat over my thumb to secure the beads, but after it started to settle I realized it actually stripped some of the copper coloring off the beads. Between this and the fact that a few beads had already fallen off my other hand, I decided this wasn't the most functional design I could have done and decided to forego the topcoat on the other nails and just snap a quick pic before calling it quits. Surprisingly, by the end of the day only about 20% of the beads had fallen off... of course that was enough for me to grab the remover. For both this and the previous post, the beads came off quite easily when soaked a bit with my acetone remover.

Despite the impractical nature of this design, are you in favor of my military mani?
