holo-day

Last night was one of those nights where I was just not in the mood for doing work and decided instead to spend my evening watching The Blind Side from within my roommate's and my blanket fort and of course--paint my nails. I was feeling a little nostalgic for the good times in London (thanks in part to the morning's Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets viewing and the more recent Kellogg's Krave commercial) when three million other ideas for how to spend a Friday night would have preceded hanging out in a blanket fort--though I must say that was pretty clever. Anyway, one way to feel a little less homesick for the land that brought us fish and chips, royal wedding extravaganzas and Simon Cowell is to paint my nails with Nails Inc. polish. Not only is the company UK based, but all the polishes are named for famous London locations. For this look, I started out with a coat of butter LONDON's Nail Foundation Flawless Basecoat followed by two coats of Nails Inc.'s Elizabeth Street. So maybe 90% of the reason I bought this color was because of the name... but the other 10% was definitely because of the beautiful nude peach color. It is such a soft hue and compatible with nearly any wardrobe.

After allowing Elizbeth Street to dry, I applied three coats of Nails Inc.'s Electric Lane Special Effects polish. This polish is unique in that it is a holographic top coat. The holographic polishes easily transform a regular manicure, like the one I did with Elizabeth Street, to an eye-catching look. Best used over very dark or very light shades, the holographic particles catch the light and make your nails come to life. Furthermore, it goes on really smooth, dissimilar to most regular glitter polishes (fingers crossed that means it comes off easier). After applying a coat of SV topcoat for a glossy sheen, the overall look was a stunning, smooth, holographic one. If you are looking for a polish that has a vamped up glitter effect, a holographic one is a great addition to any girl's nail polish arsenal--especially Electric Lane from Nails Inc. So as I sit here in my Zara top, Topshop jeans (notice the irony there?) and rocking my Nails Inc. polish, I'm feeling a little less homesick and a little closer to Londontown.

On another note, you know what would make me even happier than a cup of Earl Grey, light on the milk, with two lumps of sugar? If you were following my blog. Other than the personal joy I would get seeing your miniature profile icon the the right sidebar of my blog under the little "join this site" with google friend connect button (push it!!), you would be one step away from being entered in my epicgiveaway! If you want to win a brand new bottle of butter LONDON snog then all you have to do is follow my blog and comment on the post: hooray for freebies. You only have until Monday, April 2, so hurry! Okay, that's enough shameless plugging of my own blog for today...

peace, love, and God save the Queen
