gleams thy gold and blue

If it weren't for my easily recognizable and desperately-in-need-of-a-trim nails, you probably wouldn't think these were mine. Compared to most of my designs, and my most recent in particular, these seem a little blasé. However, I promise this isn't due to lack of inspiration or a sudden inability to paint super tiny--rather a desire to go for a simpler, more sophisticated look. If you ask me, the look is actually a rather fresh take on the reverse french.

For this look I used a new polish of mine, butter LONDON's Bumster. This soft golden yellow had been on my wish list for ages, and I was finally able to add it to my collection. After applying one coat of butter's nail foundation flawless basecoat, I painted two coats of Bumster. To compliment the gold, I used butter's Royal Navy, a rich navy blue. I applied the navy in the same shape of my nail, but in smaller form--updating the reverse french to continue up the sides of the nail. To complete the design I applied one coat of SV topcoat.

Among a number of comments of "boring" and "lame" (which really is rather pathetic insult--if you don't believe me refer to this Stephen Green quote) I also got a lot of "yay Notre Dame!" and "Go Irish!" Apparently I inadvertently did my nails in my school colors which seems to automatically increase the likability of them on campus by about 50%. Perhaps from now on I will just lead with that? For those of you not in love with these, never fear...there are more exciting nails to come!
