As you may have recalled from my last post, I got to go to an Ed Sheeran and Snow Patrol concert this past Saturday. Let me start by saying, words cannot describe how brilliant it was--therefore I have attached visual and auditory aids.
So if after watching this video, you aren't convinced of Ed Sheeran's musical perfection, let me tell you why I love him.
- He writes pretty much all of his own music.
- His songs are all real--things we can easily relate to.
- He builds his own tracks as he performs live using a loop pedal (see video for example).
- He used Rupert Grint for his music video for Lego House.
- His voice is that of an angle.
- He is British (remember I'm an anglophile)
- His song "The A Team" makes me cry every time--if that isn't real music I don't know what is.
Just when you think this concert couldn't get any better... I GOT TO MEET HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After the concert my fabulous friend and I got to wait in a ridiculously long line in the cold Chicago air to get an autograph. You haven't seen starstruck until you have seen me meeting Ed Sheeran. When it was my turn I was absolutely speechless so my friend, being the wonderful person she is, yelled "its her birthday!!!!" and that got the conversation going. Not only did I get two birthday hugs, an arm squeeze and a autograph that said "Happy Birthday, Love Ed Sheeran X (is the X a kiss or a hug? either way I'll take it)" but he definitely chatted with me longer than anyone else #winning. Unfortunately this picture is rather terrible quality due to terrible lighting and the god awful battery life of android phones, but you can see him in all of his adorableness smiling at me, so I am rather satisfied.
Anyway, this post is just a fun one to let me gush about the concert and to show you how a nail blogger gets ready for a show. For my nails I used butter LONDON nail foundation Flawless Basecoat followed by Minger. Since Ed Sheeran's logo is a paw print I put that on my thumb using Cream Tea and his name using Union Jack Black (im obsessed with times new roman font). I painted a plus sign on the ring finger since that is the name of his debut album and added some of my vavorite lyrics. The right hand has a rather sloppy looking line from his song "Lego House" reading: I'll surrender up my heart and swap it for yours. On the left hand I put the name/lyric from my favorite song, give me love (the one in the video). Finished off with a coat of SV topcoat and I was concert ready! Hope you had a great weekend and perhaps are falling for Ed Sheeran now too!
