foiled again

Ciaté always has something new to offer in the world of nail art. This particular kit, the Very Colorfoil Manicure, is one of my favorites due to its versatility. The kit comes in three different sets each with a unique paint pot, foil glue, a nail wheel and collection of foils. The one featured in this post, Wonderland, comes with Cream Soda-- a grey colored cream based paint pot and 5 sets of 6 different colored metallic foils in mint, pink, silver, gold, holographic gold, and holographic silver. Carnival Couture comes with a Kiss Chase--a pink paint pot, and magenta, royal blue, green, gold, lavender, and silver foils. Kaleidoscopic Klash features Pepperminty-- an aqua/mint colored paint pot and holographic foils in royal blue, magenta, gold, red, silver, and white. As I mentioned before, you have a lot of flexibility with this kit. You can apply the foil in random patterns as I did using the glue, or you can cut and paste it for a specific design. You can use one color, two colors, or all of them.

Here's how to get the above look:

  1. Apply one coat of foundation. I used butter LONDON's Nail Foundation Flawless Basecoat.
  2. Apply two coats of the base color, in this case Ciaté's Cream Soda and wait for it to dry.
  3. Using the provided foil glue, dab a small amount on the nail where you want the foil to show.
  4. After the glue has become a clear color, place the desired foil color overtop it and press into the nail.
  5. Quickly remove the foil to leave a gorgeous splash of metallic color on the nail.
  6. Repeat on each nail with as many different colors until you are satisfied with the tone.
  7. Finish off with your favorite topcoat. I used SV topcoat to seal in the foil nicely.

Personally, I loved this kit from Ciaté--great concept, included everything, fabulous color selections, and flexible. Expect to see more with foil in the future.
