Happy hump day loves! It's only wednesday and I can't wait for this week to be over. There is nothing worse than returning to reality after a nice long break. I spent the last week in Vegas--sorry about the lack of Vegas themed nail art...what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas--and the weather was glorious and the poolside miami vices delightful. One of the few upsides to returning to a place where I can see my breath outside was having a package addressed to Varnish Vixen sitting outside my door! I did gain a few new fab polishes over the week, and this design was may attempt at testing some of them out. Though I am not all together fond of the result, there was a reasonable amount of approval from others and a lot of "are those nail stickers?" so I concluded it was a job well done.
I started with a coat of butter LONDON's Nail Foundation Flawless Basecoat (do I even need to tell you this any more?) and two coat of my new butter find, Billy No Mates. I have been searching for a nice pale, creamy grey for a while and this varnish was just perfect.
I happened to pick up Stag Do and figured its deep teal color would compliment the grey nicely. My favorite thing about Stag Do is the iridescent green shimmer the polish has when it catches the light. It's a bit unexpected and provides a nice understated bit of glam. I painted Stag Do in the center of my nail in the same style as I did in one of my previous posts: Gleams thy Gold and Blue.
In order to differentiate, I thought I needed to add a little something more to the design. Realizing I had another complimentary polish, I decided to kill two birds with one stone. Fishwife is a gorgeous holographic turquoise polish designed for New York fashion week. Unfortunately it is only available in the US (finally being in the US has paid off...) but you can still get your hands on some other lovely butter holographs like Trustafarian, Dodgy Barnett, or Posh Bird. Anyway, I decided to paint a simple crisscross patter on each nail overtop the Stag Do portion of the nail. Finished with a coat of SV Topcoat, the nails definitely looked great in the light as both the holograph of Fishwife and the shimmer of Stag Do were emphasized.
I hope you have the happiest of Wednesdays!
Cheers
Billy No Mates Stag Do Fishwife
