conversation heart-et

If you read my blog you know I don't care for V-Day (more like D-Day), but for the romantics out there, ie: my dear friend whose nails are pictured here, Valentines day is a great reason to put little Sweethearts on your nails. Honestly it takes the name Conversation Hearts to a whole new level. Your nails are an actual conversation starter, so it's pretty clever--point to my friend for coming up with the idea.

So when she came to me with her fabulous idea, she suggested just doing each nail the color of a sweetheart and writing the phrase on it. Isn't she kind?! She knew how tiny her nails were and to put multiple hearts and words on her nails would be too much to ask...right? Wrong. Me being the ambitious person I am, decided to go all the way and paint as many little conversation hearts on her nails as I could. I started off with a very skeptical client and Butter London's nail foundation. I then applied Butter London's Primrose Hill Picnic overtop of all her nails. Next I started painting all the hearts on her nails with Butter London's Slapper (light pink), Minger (orange), Cheeky Chops (yellow), Bossy Boots (light green), and Urban Outfitter's Purple 7 (purple duh).

After I made all the hearts and had her sit and let them dry while we watched "The Ugly Truth" (honestly how could you not expect us to watch a chick flick...I was painting dozens of tiny hearts on her nails). Then I used Sally Hansen's black nail art pen to write the messages on the candy hearts. After finishing the look off with some Butter London top coat, they were all done and ready for Valentines Day! And true to our initial thoughts, they have been a real conversation heart-er. xoxo
