Once upon a time, I saw a picture of Blake Lively online with lace nails. I wanted to try it. I did. The end.
So there are a number of different ways to get the effect of lace nails. You could use a Konad plate with a lace design, you could be really brave and freehand lace, or you could do what I did and actually glue lace to your nails!
- Go to a fabric store and buy a fine french lace ribbon, or perhaps you are an aspiring fashion designer and already own some. All you need is enough lace to be able to cut pieces out for 10 nails (only need 6 inches or so). I bought a yard, because I knew I would repeat this design a number of times.
- Cut out little nail sized pieces of lace and set them aside.
- After applying a base coat, paint your nails. You can paint your nails any color, and the lace looks great with pretty much anything.
- After the polish is almost dry, stick the pieces of lace over it and press lightly into the nail.
- Immediately paint a thick topcoat over the lace and allow it to dry before reapplying the top coat. Of course there are different types of nail glue you could use but guess what... the top coat held the lace in place perfectly!
- After it is 100% dry trim the edges of the lace and PRESTO lace nails.
- When it comes time to take them off, just dip your nails in nail polish remover and peel the lace off.
